Al Ahly defeated ZED to join Pyramids, Tala’ea El-Gaish and Al Masry on six points, while Wadi Degla and Ceramica Cleopatra also recorded victories.
Achraf Bencharki opened the scoring for Al Ahly in the 21st minute at Cairo International Stadium. Marwan Attia won possession and carried the ball forward before finding the Moroccan, who beat Ali Lotfi with a low finish.
ZED nearly equalised before half-time. Mohamed Rabia’s close-range attempt struck the crossbar before Abdelrahman El-Banouby fired the rebound over the bar.
Taher Mohamed Taher doubled the Red Devils’ lead in the 61st minute. The assistant referee initially disallowed the goal for offside against Ahmed Sayed Zizo, but a VAR review overturned the decision.
Al Ahly created several further opportunities without adding a third and completed their first clean sheet of the season. The Cairo giants moved to six points after overturning a two-goal deficit to beat El Sharkia ENPPI 3-2 in their opening match.
They sit second behind Pyramids on goal difference. ZED remain on one point after beginning their campaign with a goalless draw against Wadi Degla.
Wadi Degla Claim First Victory
Wadi Degla defeated El Sharkia ENPPI 3-1 at El Salam Stadium to collect their first win since returning to the Premier League.
Seif Teka headed Degla ahead in the third minute before Mahmoud Kahraba equalised from the penalty spot ten minutes later. Hamza Hassan converted another penalty in the 62nd minute to restore Degla’s advantage. Ziad Osama completed the victory with eight minutes remaining.
The result moved Wadi Degla to four points and sixth place. El Sharkia ENPPI have lost both matches despite scoring three times.
Ceramica Respond to Opening Defeat
Ceramica Cleopatra recovered from their opening loss against Canal SC by beating Ittihad Alexandria 3-1 away from home.
Ahmed Belhadji put Ceramica ahead during first-half stoppage time before Marwan Osman doubled their lead midway through the second half.
Hossam Hassan reduced the deficit for Ittihad, but former Al Ahly striker Nejc Gradišar responded two minutes later to secure Ceramica’s first points.
Ittihad remain on one point after following their opening draw against Zamalek with a home defeat.
Nine-Man El Gouna Hold Canal
Canal SC and El Gouna drew 1-1 in Ismailia despite the visitors receiving two red cards.
Mawuli Wayo gave Canal the lead after six minutes. Ahmed Gamal equalised shortly before half-time, two minutes after El Gouna midfielder Omar Magdy El-Gazzar was dismissed.
Wilfried Teukeu received another red card in the 89th minute, but nine-man El Gouna held on for the point. Canal moved to four points after beating Ceramica 2-1 in gameweek one. El Gouna have drawn both of their opening matches.
