Al Ahly clinched the Egyptian Premier League title in classic fashion, with a 6-0 victory on the final day of the season.
Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali was the main star of the match, netting four goals in the process, while Hussein El Shahat and Emam Ashour added one each to seal a dominant display at Cairo International Stadium.
The win saw Al Ahly finish the season on 58 points, two ahead of Pyramids FC, who beat Ceramica Cleopatra 5-1 but fell just short.
The Red Devils began the season under Marcel Koller, but it was interim coach Emad El-Nahhas who guided them through the final stretch, securing six consecutive wins and capitalizing on a key Pyramids slip-up to secure the title .
Al Ahly ended the campaign with the league’s best attacking and defensive records, 52 goals scored and only 18 conceded.
The Cairo giants will now hope to carry this form onto next month’s Club World Cup and capitalize on their boost in morale.
