Al Masry fullback, Ahmed Eid, was called up to join the Egyptian national team squad in preparation for their upcoming match against Botswana.

This decision comes after Egypt’s recent 3-0 victory over Cape Verde on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (AFCON).

It was reported earlier that the Egyptian coaching staff decided to exclude Mostafa Mohamed and Omar Marmoush ahead of the Botswana encounter after medical examinations revealed that they were unfit to participate due to injuries sustained during the victory against Cape Verde.

As a result, Egypt’s technical director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed the inclusion of Ahmed Eid in the Pharaohs’ camp following recent injuries in their squad.

The Egyptian national team is gearing up for the second round of qualifiers against Botswana next Tuesday.

With their recent win, Egypt currently top their group in the qualifiers on goal difference, which also includes Mauritania and Botswana.
