Al Ahly secured their first FIFA Intercontinental Cup title with a 3-0 victory over Al-Ain at Cairo International Stadium.

With this victory, Ahly secured the African-Asian-Pacific Cup title and now await the yet-to-be-determined CONMEBOL champion, who is set to face CF Pachuca in the Challenger Cup on December 14.

Ahly XI: Mohamed El-Shennawy; Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Yahia Attiyat Allah, Akram Tawfik; Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Koka, Hussein El-Shahat, Wessam Abou Ali, Taher Mohamed.

Al-Ain XI: Khalid Eisa; Erik, Kouame Autonne, Fabio Cardoso; Bandar Mohamed, Yong-woo Park, Yehia Nader, Matias Palacios; Mohammed Al-Baloushi, Kaku, Soufiane Rahimi.

Ahly started the match on the front foot, creating early chances in the first ten minutes. Hussein El-Shahat and Wessam Abou Ali both came close to opening the scoring, only to be blocked by Al-Ain’s goalkeeper Khalid Eisa.

The pressure paid off in the 33rd minute when Wessam Abou Ali capitalized on a defensive error by Al-Ain’s Fabio Cardoso. Abou Ali intercepted a misplaced pass intended for Eisa and coolly slotted the ball into the net, giving Al Ahly a 1-0 lead.

The Red Devils maintained their intensity in the second half, and in the 56th minute, Emam Ashour doubled the lead with a volley inside the box.

Despite attempts from Al-Ain to get back into the game, Al Ahly remained solid at the back, while pushing forward with counter-attacks. In the final minutes of injury time, Omar Kamal was brought down in the box, giving Al Ahly a late penalty kick. Mohamed Magdi Afsha converted the penalty just minutes after coming onto the pitch, sealing a 3-0 win for the Cairo giants.
